Dear Parents,

As the holiday season approaches, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday season filled with joy, laughter, and love.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education. Your involvement and commitment to their success are greatly appreciated, and we are grateful to have such dedicated parents as part of our school community.

I wish you all the best during this special time of year.

Test of our Emergency Communications System - December 19th, 2022

As part of our district safety plan, we routinely conduct tests of our emergency communication systems. All families with children in the District will receive an email, automated phone call, and text message on Monday, December 19th between 5 pm and 6 pm as part of this test. Each parent/guardian should receive the text and phone call based on their unique Skyward Family Access information.

If you do not receive the email, text message, or phone call on Monday, please contact Laura Talavera at talavera@waterford.k12.wi.us.

Before this test, we are asking families to review their Skylert/School Messenger settings in Skyward Family Access. Please reference the following sheet for step-by-step directions.

Thank you for your partnership!

Reminders Regarding Medications in School:

  • All prescription medications require a signed Medication Administration Request Form.
  • No medication is to be sent to school in baggies or envelopes.
  • Supplies of non-prescription medications (Tylenol, Advil, Midol, etc) will not be kept at school for occasional use by the student throughout the year unless a physician's authorization is received.
  • All medication will be kept in a locked cabinet in the school office. Medications may NOT be kept by a student, including in backpacks or lockers. Self-administered medications are an exception to this and require specific physician consent (epi-pen, inhaler)
  • Any medication to be administered at school must be brought to school by the parent/legal guardian.
  • Controlled substances: Medications must be counted with the secretary/health aide/nurse and both must sign the medication administration form. This must be done each time a new bottle is brought to school.
  • If medication is brought to the office by a student, the office will confiscate the medication and contact the parent to come to the school to complete the appropriate paperwork. The medication will not be returned to a student to take home. A parent/legal guardian must pick the medication up from the office.

Seventh Grade Students Have Courage To Do the Right Thing!

On Friday, 12/9, our 7th-grade students participated in the Courage Retreat, which inspired them to use courage to do the right thing and make responsible decisions.

Led by facilitators, students learned the importance of being themselves. Take a look at some of the fun that was had during the retreat.

A huge shout-out to Waterford Union High School and the twenty-eight students who spent the day at Fox River leading small groups of seventh graders during the retreat. We couldn’t do this without your help!

Fun Fact: I love penguins and can tell you lots of information about them!

Favorite Class: My favorite class is art because I can express myself. My favorite project in art so far has been the clay projects! I made an igloo for penguins.

What do you like most about Waterford?

I like that people are supportive and will help me if I need it.

Digital Citizenship

Reading Frenzy

Starting January 9, our schools will begin the 3rd annual Reading Frenzy. The purpose of the Frenzy is to create excitement in our schools around reading. Each building is challenged to read 2023 books during the Frenzy’s 4-week timeframe. Students complete tickets that get entered into a weekly building-level drawings. In addition, at the end of the Frenzy, awards are given out to top grade level readers at each school, top grade level classroom across the district, and for the first building to reach the 2023 goal. There are many additional reading festivities planned during the Frenzy. Have your child share with you the fun activities planned in January.

Waterford Recreation

Thank you to all who attended the WinterFest event on Friday, December 9. We were able to collect a variety of donations that will have a positive impact on families of the Waterford Graded

School District.
